Trans Workers Experiences in Colombia and Argentina: A Roundtable Discussion

In this Spanish-spoken roundtable, 3 Latinx special guests will discuss current challenges and victories of trans* workers in South America. From Argentina’s Law for Travesti-Trans Employment Quota and the “Contratá Trans” project, to Colombia’s community-based trans activism and the “Talento Trans” initiative, this conversation will spread ‘travesti’ love and hope, inviting us to gather and stay together for a queerer future.

Community educator and human rights consultant, specialized in alternative feminisms. Cultural manager of literature, gender and sexuality projects.

MARTINA ANSARDI (she/her, Argentina)
Director of “Contratá Trans”, a social initiative by and for ‘travesti’ workers. Co-founder of Generem Association. Gender and diversity policy consultant and territorial activist of the Ministry of Women, Gender and Diversity of Argentina.
DANIELA MALDONADO (she/her, Colombia)
Artivist, singer, hooker, mother of Luchi and founder of Red Comunitaria Trans (RCT), an community organization in Bogotá that stands for trans rights. Co-director of the short film “Continuum” (2020) and producer of the first Colombian trans movie, “Cada vez que muero (Everytime I die)” (2022).
DANNE ARO BELMONT (she/her, Colombia)
Executive Director of “Grupo de Acción y Apoyo a personas con experiencia de vida Trans - GAAT” Foundation which coordinates “Talento Trans”, a platform that connects trans people in Colombia with safe job opportunities.
